fix(metrics): log ex as debug for jupyter notebook (#206)

* fix(metrics): log ex as debug for jupyter notebook

so apparently in jupyter notebooks this will actually throw
unlike in a regular python environment.

changing severity to debug since no one should ever care except me
when i'm debugging lol!
